For low-income people, limited food choices make it difficult to eat right. You can help by collecting highly nutritious food for distribution through Second Harvest’s network of food pantries. Please help us by considering the following nutrient rich foods as you plan your food drive:

Fruits and Vegetables

  • Canned vegetables
  • Vegetable and fruit juice (100% juice preferred)
  • Tomato sauce
  • Canned fruit (in water or its own juice)
  • Dried fruit
  • Shelf stable fruit cups

Grains

  • Oatmeal
  • Pasta
  • Low sugar/high fiber cereal
  • Cream of Wheat
  • Brown rice

Protein

  • Canned tuna fish
  • Canned salmon
  • Canned chicken
  • Canned bean soup
  • Canned baked beans
  • Dried and canned beans and peas
  • Canned chili
  • Canned beef stew
  • Peanut butter
  • Nuts
